Cleaning and Disinfection

Dirt and sediment build up in a tank over time from the accumulation of solids in the incoming mains water supply settling out in the base of the tank. Biofilm can also form on the tank sidewalls and on internal supports. These contaminants provide a nutrient source for bacteria but also can provide a hideout for bacteria such as legionella protecting the bacteria from the low level of biocide that will be in the mains water supply that can help to control bacteria levels. It is very important that the water systems are kept clean so as not to provide conditions that favour bacterial growth.

H2O Solutions carry out tank cleaning and disinfection to HSG274 Part 2 and PD855468 guides. Where the water system allows/requires, associated pipework will be disinfected also.

The tank roof supports are hollow supports which should be changed to solid supports as the internal side of the support are an area where biofilm and dirt can accumulate and cannot be cleaned and are an area where legionella can grow.
